ABSTRACT

The Application of bacteriophages as tracers in various aquatic systems is described with examples of three specific applications in the South West Water Authority area.

The first two examples illustrate the use of bacteriophage for leak detection of a sewer and an impounding dam. The third example compares bacteriophage with fluorescein for the determination of time of travel in a river.
